Definition
Relating to the centromere, the constricted region of a chromosome where sister chromatids attach and where spindle fibers connect during cell division.
Etymology
From Latin 'centrum' (center) + Greek 'meros' (part), describing the central part of a chromosome.
Kelly Says
The centromere is where the magic happens during cell division—without this tiny region, chromosomes couldn't properly separate and new cells couldn't form!
