A family of small songbirds found in Central and South America, commonly known as honeycreepers.
Etymology
From the genus name Coereb- (likely from a Taino or Caribbean indigenous language) + -idae, the Linnaean taxonomy suffix for animal families. The exact origin of 'Coereb-' is uncertain but may relate to indigenous Caribbean words.

The Coerebidae are tiny, colorful birds that fill similar ecological roles to warblers, but they're not closely related—they evolved independently. This is a great example of convergent evolution, where different animals develop similar shapes and behaviors to exploit the same food sources (nectar and insects).
