Definition
A person who participates in a conversation or dialogue; an interlocutor.
Etymology
From Latin 'collocutor,' derived from 'collocutio' (conversation). A rare English word from Latin but still used in formal or academic contexts.
Kelly Says
The word 'interlocutor' (meaning someone in a dialogue) is much more common, but 'collocutor' is the direct Latin equivalent—linguistics has borrowed these Latin terms heavily to sound more precise.
