Condor

/ˈkɒndɔː/ noun

Definition

A condor is a very large vulture found in the Americas, known for its huge wingspan and soaring flight. It feeds mostly on dead animals and often lives in mountain or coastal regions.

Etymology

From Spanish 'cóndor', which comes from Quechua 'kuntur', the Indigenous name for the bird in the Andes. The word entered European languages through early South American exploration.

Kelly Says

The Andean condor is one of the largest flying birds on Earth, with wings wider than many cars are long. In Andean cultures, it’s not just wildlife—it’s a sacred symbol linking the human world with the sky and the spirits.
