Definition
Relating to or resembling insects of the family Coreidae, commonly known as leaf-footed bugs or squash bugs.
Etymology
From 'Coreidae' (the insect family name) and '-id' (resembling). The family name comes from Greek 'korē' meaning maiden or doll, possibly referring to the bugs' shape.
Kelly Says
Coreid bugs have those weird flat extensions on their legs that look like little leaves—this camouflage trick has been so successful that the family includes over 3,000 species worldwide!
