Crateris

/krəˈtɛrɪs/ noun

Definition

Crater, a southern constellation of stars, or the possessive/genitive form of the Latin word crater.

Etymology

Direct Latin noun, referring to one of the 88 official constellations. The Romans named it after the mythological krater (mixing bowl) of Bacchus.

Kelly Says

Crater is one of the oldest recognized constellations, but ironically it's one of the faintest—ancient stargazers with perfect night vision could spot it, but today most people need binoculars or a telescope.
