Definition
A decorative fastener used to hold together the two sides of a shirt cuff, usually worn in formal clothing.
Etymology
From 'cuff' (the sleeve fold) plus 'link' (to connect). Cufflinks developed in the 17th century as ornamental replacements for the simple ties and buttons used before.

Vintage cufflinks are now collectible items worth serious money—some made of precious metals or featuring rare designs sell for thousands, making them one of the few pieces of men's formal wear that have become investment-grade antiques.
