Definition
A creature or being that is part ox and part something else; a hybrid combining bovine and other characteristics.
Etymology
From 'demi-' (half) + 'ox' (from Old English 'oxa'). Like 'demiowl,' this appears to be a heraldic or fantasy term combining the productive prefix with an animal name to create a hybrid being.
Kelly Says
In classical mythology, the Minotaur was basically an infamous demiox-type creature, except way more nightmarish—the combination of human and beast represented chaos threatening civilization.
