Demoded

/dəˈmoʊdɪd/ adjective

Definition

Made or rendered out of fashion; having become demode or outdated.

Etymology

From demode + -ed (past participle used as adjective). While demode is the standard adjective, demoded appears as a back-formation treating demode as a verb.

Kelly Says

Demoded is rarer than demode, but when it appears, it treats fashion like a verb—'to demode something'—which actually captures something real: fashion actively makes things unfashionable rather than them just naturally aging.
