Definition
A tile-based game using rectangular blocks marked with dots, or a sequence of events where one thing causes the next.
Etymology
From French 'domino,' possibly from Latin 'dominus' (master/lord). Originally referred to a type of cloak with a mask. The game was named after the similarity of masks to the dot patterns on tiles.
Kelly Says
The 'domino theory' was used during the Cold War to suggest that if one country fell to communism, others would follow—it shaped military strategy for decades! Reality turned out more complex, but the metaphor shows how games influence political thinking.
