Definition
Inclined to show off or display ostentatiously; having a tendency to be showy or attention-seeking.
Etymology
From 'flaunt' + '-y' (adjective suffix). The '-y' suffix converts the verb into an adjective describing something as having the characteristic of flaunting.
Kelly Says
Creating adjectives by adding '-y' is so natural in English ('dreamy,' 'tasty,' 'risky') that we barely notice it, yet not all languages do this—it's one of English's most useful and flexible word-building tools!
