Definition
The forward part of a structure or area; or the act of hunting/chasing something ahead.
Etymology
From 'fore-' (before) and 'chase' (to pursue or a section of land). Could refer either to architectural spaces or to hunting terminology, with 'chase' meaning both pursuit and a hunting ground.
Kelly Says
In medieval hunting, a 'forechase' was the territory your quarry ran through before reaching the dense forest—understanding the landscape where prey would run was as important as the chase itself.
