Definition
A glen (valley) in Scotland famous for its whisky distilleries, particularly Glenlivet whisky, one of the world's most renowned single-malt Scotch whiskies.
Etymology
From Scottish Gaelic 'gleann' (glen) and 'Livet', a river valley in Speyside, Scotland. The name became world-famous through the distillery established there in the 1820s.
Kelly Says
Glenlivet whisky became so famous that it inspired dozens of other Scottish distilleries to use the word 'glen' in their names—it's like how everyone copied the success formula and the naming convention stuck!
