Definition
A style or pattern featuring Greek design elements, or Greek in appearance and manner.
Etymology
From French grecque, the feminine form of grec (Greek). Often used in design and fashion to describe Neo-classical Greek revival styles popular in 18th-19th century Europe.
Kelly Says
When decorators used 'grecque' designs, they meant the return to geometric Greek patterns—meanders and key patterns—that became wildly fashionable when Europeans started excavating ancient sites like Pompeii!
