Definition
An ancient kingdom in Mesopotamia that existed around 2200 BCE, known for its mountain people and brief empire.
Etymology
From Akkadian and Sumerian historical records. Gutium was a Zagros mountain region whose people invaded and ruled Mesopotamia temporarily during the fall of the Akkad Empire.
Kelly Says
The Gutians were history's surprise conquerors—mountain warriors from the Zagros who briefly toppled one of the world's first empires, yet they're so ancient their story was nearly lost to time.
