Definition
An alternate Hebrew plural form of haftorah, with the older Hebrew plural ending '-oth.'
Etymology
An archaic Hebrew plural ending of 'haftarah,' found in older texts. This '-oth' ending appears in classical Hebrew but was largely replaced by the '-ot' ending in modern Hebrew.
Kelly Says
The existence of 'haftoroth' shows how even religious texts preserve linguistic fossils—the '-oth' ending belonged to an earlier stage of Hebrew grammar, frozen in tradition.
