Hekteus

/ˈhɛktiːəs/ noun

Definition

In ancient Greek mythology, one of the Giants who fought against the Olympian gods during the Gigantomachy (War of the Giants).

Etymology

From Greek Hektaios (Ἑκταῖος), possibly related to hekatos ('one hundred') or derived from the same root as other giant names, reflecting the mythological tradition of supernatural beings in ancient Greek cosmology.

Kelly Says

Hekteus is one of those mythological names we barely remember today, but his story was part of ancient Greeks' attempt to explain the world—these giants represented chaos that the civilized Olympian gods had to defeat to bring order.
