Etymology
From Greek 'hexa-' (six) and 'stichos' (line of verse). Classical and medieval literary terminology for verse forms.
Kelly Says
Different cultures developed their own favorite line counts for poems—the six-line hexastich appears in medieval Latin poetry and influenced later European verse forms like the sestet in sonnets.
