Definition
A cluster of seven bright stars in the constellation Taurus, visible as a tiny grouping to the naked eye, important in mythology and astronomy.
Etymology
From Greek 'Pleiades,' the seven daughters of Atlas and Pleione. In Greek mythology, they were transformed into stars to escape Orion's pursuit.
Kelly Says
Ancient cultures used the Pleiades to track seasons—knowing when they appeared in the night sky helped farmers time their planting, making these stars one of humanity's oldest calendars!
