Definition
A practice game or the action that begins each play in American football when teams line up facing each other.
Etymology
From 'skirmish' via alteration, originally meaning a confused fight or struggle. In football, it refers to the organized 'battle' between offensive and defensive lines at the start of each play.
Kelly Says
Every NFL play begins at the 'line of scrimmage' - an invisible battlefield where 22 warriors clash in perfectly choreographed chaos, making football the ultimate combination of strategy and controlled violence!
