Skunks

/skʌŋks/ noun

Definition

Black and white striped animals known for spraying a foul-smelling liquid when threatened, or to beat someone badly in a game.

Etymology

From Algonquian 'seganku' or similar. The word came to English from Native American languages that had long experience with these animals.

Kelly Says

Skunks are actually super chill animals that would rather warn you with their white stripe than spray—but that smell (which contains the same chemical found in onions and garlic) is so powerful it can reach 10 blocks away!
