Definition
A sharp or dull pain in a tooth or the area around a tooth.
Etymology
A compound word from 'tooth' (Old English 'toþ') plus 'ache' (Old English 'ace' meaning pain). Simple English: tooth + ache = pain in tooth.
Kelly Says
Toothaches can actually trigger pain in other parts of your face because your teeth share nerves with your jaw and sinuses, so you might feel pain in your ear or temple instead of the actual problem tooth!
